Danny Johnson's journey began in the early 2000s when he started flipping houses in San Antonio, Texas. He quickly realized that he had a knack for real estate investing and decided to make it his full-time career. Since then, Danny has built a successful real estate investing business, developed 2 different software platforms for real estate investors, and has helped countless people achieve their financial goals through real estate investing.

Danny Johnson's Story

Danny had a passion for software development that led to a degree in Computer Science from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He had an internship as a software engineer at SRC that led to full-time employeement after graduation.

Danny Starts Buying Houses

While Danny loved working as a software developer, he felt he was not being challenged enough. He felt there was something more he was meant to do. That's when he discovered real estate investing. Danny's father, Frank Johnson, had begun buying and flipping houses in Seguin, Texas. His father's excitement and love for the business rubbed off on Danny. Danny bought his first investment property in 2003 and quickly realized that he had a talent for flipping houses. He decided to make real estate investing his full-time career and has never looked back.

Danny Creates a House Buying Company

Danny founded HomeAid, Inc. in 2005. As president of the company, Danny helped grow the business into a successful real estate investment company that was buying dozens of houses per year. Being a software developer, Danny soon saw the benefit of creating a web presence for the company and set up a website that advertising the company as a cash house buying company in San Antonio, Texas. In 2008, he then bought the DannyBuysHouses.com domain and transferred the website to it.

Danny Creates Website To Allow Homeowners To Sell Their House Fast

Danny's website was one of the first house buying websites in San Antonio. It was a simple site that allowed homeowners to submit their property information for a quick cash offer. The site was a hit and Danny was able to buy most of the houses for the real estate investing company through the website. It wasn't long before other real estate investors were asking Danny where they could get a website like his. Danny did not have anywhere to send them.

Danny Creates Real Estate Investor Website Platform

In 2012, during a phone conversation with Brandon Turner from BiggerPockets, Brandon had an idea for a service that provides websites for other real estate investors and house flippers. Danny felt being hired to create individual websites would not be cost effective. He had an idea to create templates and software to create and customize each website purchased. This led to the creation of LeadPropeller, a real estate investor website provider, which launced in 2013. Danny founded Freedom Driven LLC to keep his real estate investments and software related businesses separate. Real estate investors could now buy a website, choose a template, and have a website up and running in minutes. LeadPropeller became a huge success.

Danny Creates Real Estate Investor CRM

Almost immediately after beginning to buy houses in 2003, Danny had created software to keep track of the leads he was generating and deals he was doing. During 2013, he decided to create a CRM so other real estate investors could improve their businesses. This led to the creation of REImobile, a real estate investor CRM, that launched in 2014. Through the years, REImobile went through several iterations, with a name change to Flip Pilot in 2016 and more recently as Forefront CRM in 2021. Forefront CRM is a customer relationship management software that allows real estate investors to keep track of their leads, deals, and contacts, and to perform automated follow up. Forefront CRM has been a huge success and was used by real estate investors all over the country.

Danny Sells His Software Products to Focus on Buying Houses

In 2021, Danny decided to sell LeadPropeller to focus on buying houses. He sold Forefront CRM in 2023. This allowed Danny focus on buying houses and growing his house buying company, Danny Buys Houses, in San Antonio, Texas. He is now able to buy houses faster by offering cash for houses in San Antonio, Seguin, New Braunfels, Boerne and other areas of south Texas.

After receiving his private pilot certificate, he realized he had let his house buying company slip a little. They were not buying as many houses as they had been because his attention was diverted to aviation. Blogging had become pretty popular by this point and Danny realized there were two types of real estate investing blogs. One type would show the story of each remodel but not discuss the financials. The other type would dicuss the financials but wouldn't show the story of the remodel. Danny decided to start a blog that would show both the story of the remodel and the financials. He called the blog FlippingJunkie.com.

Danny Writes a Book About Real Estate Investing and Buying Houses

In 2013, Danny wrote his first book, Flipping Houses Exposed: 34 Weeks in the Life of a Successful House Flipper. The book is a journal of Danny's house buying and flipping business for 34 weeks. Upon meeting Danny at a high-level real estate investing mastermind, Bill Allen, the current owner of 7 Figure Flipping, mentioned the book helped him tremendously in finding success in real estate investing. Bill said the book 'showed him that real estate investing was just a numbers game. If he could get enough leads, he could get enough deals.'

Danny Starts Podcasting

In 2015, Danny decides to help other real estate investors by sharing his knowledge and experiences. He started the Flipping Junkie Podcast. The podcast is about Danny's journey as a house flipper and real estate investor. Danny shares his experiences and knowledge, and interviews other top investors, to help real estate investors learn how to flip houses and attain financial freedom. The Flipping Junkie Podcast has had over a million downloads and over 500 reviews. Danny's guests have included J Scott, Brandon Turner, Hal Elrod and Joe McCall.

Danny has been a guest on dozens of real estate podcasts. Danny Speaks at Flip Hacking Live Conference

In 2017, Danny was invited to speak at Flipping Hacking Live by his friend and fellow real estate investor, Justin Williams. In order to prepare for this speaking engagement, Danny decided to enroll in Dale Carnegie's Public Speaking Training. This was an 8 week course that helped Danny to vastly improve his public speaking skills. Flipping Hacking Live is a real estate investing conference hosted by Bill Allen (previously hosted by Justin Williams).
